Salvador was an amazing experience. Even though we were there during the winter, the weather was beautiful. We stayed at an AirBnB a block from the beach, so we had beautiful views. We spent a lot of time visiting with our friends and their family, spending some time on the beach, and eating some great food.
Ilha dos Frades
One of our first activities was a boat ride out to an island off of Salvador called Ilha dos Frades. We spent time on the beach, got some snacks and drinks and had lunch at one of the local restaurants. The boat ride out and back was great, though the ride back was a bit rocky as we were coming back in a storm.
Praia de Forte
We took a day trip out to Praia de Forte. Beautiful beach and the turtle sanctuary was great! Also had a cute shopping area. Lunch was seafood stew and a paella. We ended the evening with a large salad at the nearby pizza place.

The Pelourinho
The arts distrtict of Salvador called The Pelourinho was beautiful. There were lots of art galleries, resturants and shops. A fun bar we went to was called O Cravinho, where they make a special clove-based liqueur. We attended the ballet, which was a beautiful show.
